RSV is here!

As you can see from the updated graph, RSV season is well underway. One of our sites is reporting over 20% positivity on specimens submitted. We have very low influenza activity, but just this week one site reported a positive influenza A (to be included in next week's updated graph). We are still seeing some parainfluenza virus circulating and the occasional respiratory adenovirus. Check back next week to see the updated numbers.

RSV slowing picking up

The respiratory viral season is well underway. We are getting reporting from 6 of our 7 sites and will hopefully be 100% up and running within a few weeks. So far, we have been seeing scattered RSV as all institutions, in the range of 4-6% positivity. This is below the 10% rate we define as endemic levels. We are seeing an occasional rotavirus as well as some parainfluenzae 3. Influenza vaccine campaigns are active in the community and most hospitals are rolling out new strategies to increase vaccination rates in their employees.
Check in next week for more data.
